Goodness Gracious, Locked Out!
It was a/an/the terribly/awful/dreadful morning/afternoon/evening. I had just finished/was about to start/had been working on my day when I realized/it dawned on me/I remembered that I'd left my keys inside/at home/in the house. Panic started/set in/took over as I looked around/scrambled for/searched desperately for a/an/any spare key. There was absolutely nothing/not a thing/no sign of/zero chance of finding one. I was stuck/trapped/completely locked out. My mind raced, trying to figure out/devise/come up with a plan.

I could try to break the door, but that would probably result in me getting hurt and calling for a tow truck anyway. Maybe I could flag down someone passing by, hoping they'll see my predicament. Or perhaps I could just rest it out, hoping the keys will turn up on their own.
That last option seems about as likely as winning the lottery.
